Akida Holdings USA brings Airocide, filter-less air purification technology developed by NASA, to the GCC

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 28th June, 2014: Akida Holdings USA, a global specialist in clean air technology, through their partner Fakhruddin Holdings has launched its flagship Airocide, an FDA approved filter-less air purification technology developed by NASA in the GCC. Airocide was launched in the US in 2013 to great success and the GCC is the first international market outside the USA (country of origin) where it is available.

Airocide is capable of eliminating virtually 100 percent of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) - harmful gasses emitted by products around the home including aerosol sprays, cleaning supplies, disinfectants, hobby supplies, building materials, paints and thinners, strippers and pesticides. It also completely eliminates all mold, fungi, viruses and bacteria that cause allergy symptoms and respiratory sickness.

Airocide draws in harmful airborne pathogens and forces them into a densely packed matrix of highly reactive catalysts that are activated by a high intensity 254-nanometer light. The reaction destroys these harmful pathogens on contact. Nothing is captured so there is nothing to clean. All that exits is crisp, clear air, with zero ozone emissions.

Commenting on the effectiveness of Airocide, Mr. Ali Asgar Fakhruddin of Fakhruddin Holdings said: “Studies of human exposure to air pollutants by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency indicate that indoor levels of pollutants may be two to five times – and occasionally more than 100 times – higher than outdoor pollutant levels. Indoor air pollutants have been ranked among the top five environmental risks to public health. After years of rigorous scientific research on air quality inside space stations, NASA developed the technology that is used exclusively by Airocide, a filter-less air purification system that’s been proven to effectively remove the worst indoor air pollutants.

‘We are pleased to launch it in the GCC as we believe that it will make a significant difference to the quality of life here. There is a high awareness of indoor air quality among the GCC residents and we believe that they are open to investing in improving their health.”

Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Max Holdings, part of Landmark Group and the distributor of Airocide in the GCC, said: “We expect a strong demand for Airocide from the home segment of customers in the GCC as they are conscious of the fact that indoor air plays a large part in their health and productivity. Anecdotal evidence suggests that we experience a relatively higher incidence of respiratory diseases and allergies in the region and Airocide will definitely help in preventing these.”

Airocide technology was built for NASA, used in earth orbit and clinically tested by the University of Wisconsin, Texas Tech University and Texas A&M University.  Airocide is priced at AED 2939 and is available in the GCC at leading electronic and lifestyle stores across the region starting July 2014.
